Governments in the emerging world over are committing staggering amounts to ensure the bane of illiteracy is eradicated and the Indian government has set a leading example with its numerous education initiatives for its own children. As per estimates (2001), India had about 205 million children in the age group 6 -14 years and one of the key initiatives from the Government of India in this direction is the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (education for all movement). This program is aimed at universalization of elementary education in a time-bound manner and is designed to achieve free and compulsory education to children in the 6-14 year age group.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is a programme for Universal Elementary Education. This programme is also an attempt to provide an opportunity for improving human capabilities to all children through provision of community -owned quality education in a mission mode. It is a response to the demand for quality basic education all over the country.
At ISpark Innovations, we have had the privilege of working together with SSA and its partners, UNICEF in bringing high-quality educational material to children in audio-enabled formats to create a new-level of knowledge dissemination. The animated-text technology significantly raises level of effectiveness of reading material by creating a high level of recall, inter-activity and application.
